The Course Catalog is SimCare’s library of ready-made simulation courses. Each catalog course bundles a set of AI client cases (plus optional quizzes and document readings) into a structured learning path. Instructors can use one as the foundation for a class, and learners can self-enroll directly.

Finding the catalog

As an instructor, the catalog is a tab on Courses:
1

Open Courses

In the top navigation, click Courses. See Navigating your classes if you’re new to this page.
2

Click Course Catalog

The Course Catalog tab is next to My Courses (/classes?tab=catalog).
You can also open /course-catalog directly. The catalog is available to signed-in instructors, admins, and learners — free-tier accounts are redirected to upgrade.

Browsing

The catalog has a single search bar and a grouped list of course cards:
  • Search — type any topic, presenting issue, or course name
  • Courses are grouped by category or by school (depending on your account)
  • Each card shows the course title and a quick description
Click How does this work? in the top right for a short walkthrough of the catalog.

Course detail page

Click any card to open the course detail page. From here you can:
  • Read the full course description and learning goals
  • See the list of included assignments (cases, quizzes, and document readings)
  • Preview each assignment’s details modal
  • Preview the welcome message learners will see

Using a course (instructors & admins)

When you’re ready to use a course in your own class, click Use this course. SimCare clones the entire course into your program as a new class, including:
  • All cases with their settings
  • Any quizzes and document readings
  • The opening welcome message
  • The recommended sequencing
You can then customize the cloned class freely without affecting the original template. Once created, invite students by email, enrollment code, or LTI (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, Moodle). Email invitations let students create an account on the way in; enrollment codes require students to already have an account and be signed in, so they can’t be used to join preemptively.
Cloning is one-way — your edits won’t change the template, and updates to the template won’t push back into your class.

Adding a single assignment to an existing course

If you only want one case, quiz, or reading from a catalog course, you don’t have to clone the whole thing. Each assignment row on the course detail page has an Add to My Course button (instructors and admins only). To pull an individual assignment into a course you already teach:
  1. Open the course detail page in the catalog.
  2. Find the assignment row you want and click Add to My Course.
  3. In the dialog, pick the target course from your existing My Courses list.
  4. Confirm or adjust the due date (defaults to 7 days from today).
  5. Click Add to create the assignment in that course.
The assignment is added to the selected course with the same type as the catalog item (case, quiz, or document reading). The original catalog course is unaffected, and you can add the same assignment to multiple courses.
Use per-assignment import when you want to mix and match content from several catalog courses into one class, or add supplemental practice to a course you’ve already built.

Self-enrolling (learners)

If you’re using SimCare as a self-paced learner (without an instructor-assigned class):
  1. Open the catalog and pick a course
  2. Click Use this course to enroll yourself
  3. Assignments appear on your My Learning dashboard
  4. Work through them on your own schedule — no due dates unless the catalog course set them

Building your own course

The Build my course button in the top right takes you to your classes page, where you can compose a course from scratch using your existing cases.

Why a course might be missing

The catalog shows publicly-published templates created by SimCare and partner programs. Courses your institution builds privately won’t appear — your instructor will share those directly via enrollment code or LMS link.
