The Client Builder (also called Patient Builder) lets instructors and admins create custom AI clients tailored to their program’s training goals. You can build either a single-client scenario or a group case (family, couples, or support group). Once published, your client can be used in assignments just like any built-in SimCare case.
Client Builder is available to paid accounts (instructors and program admins). Free-tier accounts are redirected to the plan page.

Finding the builder

From the Discover page, click Create Custom Client in the feature banner, or go directly to My Cases from your profile menu. You’ll land on the Client Builder dashboard.

Dashboard overview

The dashboard shows every case you’ve built or are in the middle of building.
  • Search — find a case by name
  • Tabs: All Cases, Individual, Group
  • Build New Case button (top right) — opens a dropdown to start a new case
Each card on the dashboard shows the case’s name, status of each AI-generated variant (prompt, voice, image, etc.), and quick actions.

Building a new case

Click Build New Case and choose what kind of case to create:
  • Individual Client — one-on-one therapy session
  • Group Case — family, couples, or support group with multiple speakers
You’ll land in the case editor — fill out the details, then save. SimCare generates the AI client in the background — this typically takes a few minutes.

What you’ll provide

For both types of cases you’ll define: Group cases add fields for each speaker (name, role in the group, dynamic with other members).
Be specific with presenting issues and history — the richer the context, the more realistic and educationally useful the AI client will be.

After publishing

Once the AI finishes generating, the client moves from draft to active and appears in your case library. You can:
  • Use it directly from your dashboard
  • Assign it to a class — see Creating assignments
  • Edit it any time (changes regenerate the affected variants)

Troubleshooting generation failures

If a part of your case (prompt, voice, or image) fails to generate, the card shows a red error state with guidance:
  • Try regenerating again — most failures are transient
  • Check your case details are complete — missing or contradictory fields confuse the AI
  • Contact support if the issue persists — reach us at hello@simcare.ai

Sharing your case

Custom cases stay private to your program by default. To share a case across multiple instructors at your school, or to make it available program-wide, contact your program admin or SimCare support.
