If the AI patient can’t hear you, or you’re seeing microphone-related errors, here’s how to fix it.

Step 1: Unmute yourself

First, make sure you’ve unmuted your microphone in the session. Look for the microphone icon in your session controls and click it to unmute. Microphone unmute icon in session controls

Step 2: Fix browser permissions

The most common cause of microphone problems on a first-time session is accidentally blocking browser permissions. When Chrome or Edge first asks for microphone access, if you clicked “Block” by mistake:
  1. Click the lock icon in your browser address bar (top left)
  2. Set microphone access to Allow
  3. Set camera access to Allow (if applicable)

Step 3: Check your mic settings on the setup screen

When you reach the session setup screen, you’ll see an audio check. Speak into your mic and watch the input meter — if it moves when you speak, your mic is working. If it doesn’t move at all, your browser may still not have access.
Supported browsers: Chrome and Microsoft Edge only. Safari and mobile browsers are not supported. If you’re on an unsupported browser, switch to Chrome first before troubleshooting anything else.

Still having issues?

  • Try using an Incognito/Private window — this rules out browser extension conflicts
  • If you have multiple microphones (e.g., headset + built-in), confirm the right one is selected in the setup screen dropdown
  • Restart your browser entirely
